FAQ

What is a zine?

Zines (pronounced like the third syllable in "magazine") are a tradition of collecting artwork, prose, and/or other mediums together into a combined booklet centered around a theme. Fanzines, zines centered around existing media, are a tradition dating all the way back to the late 1960s with fans of Star Trek. They often include a combination of fanart and fanfiction, but can also include other forms of fan content such as cosplay photos, in-universe written works, poetry, and more!

What will be in this zine?

This zine will be physical with physical merch and will feature fanart and fanfiction of Deku and Bakugou in a yuri/wlw relationship. We welcome all designs and head-canons for the characters gender-swapped, so long as they recognize their relationship as wlw. The main zine will be SFW and may feature post-canon content. All pieces will either be set in the canon universe or one of Horikoshi's popularity poll AUs (fantasy, winter, etc). This is not a "fixed" zine to either bkdk or dkbk.We will also include an 18+ NSFW digital-exclusive side zine. All characters depicted in the side zine must be over the age of 18 and hard kinks (such as non-con/rape, watersports, vore, etc) will be excluded. If you have further questions about specific rstricted content, you can direct them to our Neospring.

Will applicants or contributors be judged or punished for content they engage with outside the zine?

No. This is meant to be a collaborative and professional space for all to celebrate BkDkBk. Applicants' or contributors' work and accounts outside of the zine are considered outside the scope of the project and will never be evaluated or monitored. We also value our contributors' privacy and have a strict anti-harassment policy that all participants agree to upon joining. If any participant is found to be harassing their fellow contributors, they will be asked to step down from their position in the zine. This being said, we do restrict some content from the zine and server themselves for everyone's comfort and ask that discussion of these topics be kept either to the proper locked channels (NSFW side zine channels) or relocated elsewhere (restricted content). Restricted content includes underage NSFW, incest, and non-con/rape.While we understand that opinions on these matters are often fraught, we simply ask that contributors follow our guidelines and act maturely and professionally. If rules are followed, we do not anticipate any problems.

How do I join?

Contributor applications are now open and you are invited to apply as an artist, writer, or merch artist! Social media following size and content made outside the zine will not affect your chances of acceptance and we encourage those both new and old to zines to apply. We ask that all applicants be over the age of 18 at the time of application. You may apply to multiple positions, but please be prepared to handle the workload of all of them if selected.Applicants are asked for three sample pieces of your best work and a portfolio of additional work. A piece depicting a gender-swapped Deku or Bakugou is not required, but is encouraged!

Are works restricted to a certain design?

Not at all! We welcome all designs for Deku and Bakugou so long as they identify as female and/or they recognize their relationship as wlw/sapphic. We're not here to police your creativity and we hope to see lots of different interpretations of the characters! This also means that other characters that appear may be gender-swapped or not--it is up to the contributor.

Where will the money go?

This zine will be for charity, so all profit not used for production or compensating contributors with full bundles (if possible) will be donated to a reputable charity. The charity will be voted upon by the contributor team.
